Late this morning, Sus and I got some unexpected but great news. The surgeon treating her gallbladder was very pleased with how her body was responding to the antibiotics.... so he decided that as long as the OBGYN's felt she would not go into labor in the immediate future then she could continue an oral antibiotic regiment at home. So around lunch time, we were discharged from Elliot Hospital!
She is not out of the woods yet...as we were walking around Walmart picking out bland low fat foods for her to eat while we waited for her prescription to be filled...more contractions kicked in. It appears as though long periods on her feet encourage pre-labor type contractions.
We had a follow up appointment with her home OBGYN, Dr. Turer, at Exeter Hospital this afternoon. She advised Susie to be on partial bed rest for the next week, trying to stay off her feet as much as possible, without being totally confined to the couch. That means no work for now. She also scheduled a consultation between Susie and a surgeon at Exeter Hospital first thing on Monday morning to make a game plan on how to best address the gallbladder situation. (If Carson makes it to 35 weeks (Sunday!), all further medical treatment (baby and gallbladder) can occur at our home hospital).
So for now, Sus and her doctor will be taking things one week at time. Depending on how she is feeling, her activity level will hopefully increase week by week, maybe even allowing Sus to go back to work part time... assuming Carson sits tight. In the mean time, Susie could have another gallbladder attack at anytime, or her contractions could develop into the real deal. Susie's mom is flying in on Sunday for her week of partial bed rest to provide me with some "caregiver relief"... and to allow me to get back to work on Monday.
So all in all...things are looking up for now! Susie will still eventually need the surgery within the next month or so...the question is which will come out first...Carson or her gallbladder!
She is feeling better, and continues to love receiving your well wishes.
Anyway, that's all for now, folks!
Thanks for everything,
Ryan

That's great news Ryan and Susie, what a nice surprise to go home earlier than expected! I know we don't know we other well but I've been thinking of you two and baby Carson all week, keeping my fingers crossed to avoid surgery and early labor! Wishing you the best and keep those updates coming!
